February Wallpapers

Maybe this is over the top, but I like to change the wall paper of my desktop seasonally. This is the one I currently have, from Smashing Mag.

Every month, they put up tons of free wall papers that are specific to that month, and they all come with or without calendars, also multiple sizes depending on your screen. I love them all.

Tim Challies also has some good ones over on his blog today. Some of them have Christian themes, but they are NOT tacky. Quite some lookers if you ask me.

Go take a gander and get some lovely designs!

My sister and I loveee crafts. During any given day during the holidays, I await picture text messages from her showing the latest craft delight! I thought I would post some pictures of Christmas cards we both made recently, and maybe they will inspire you!

All the cards are made out of easy to acquire scrapbook paper, ribbon, buttons, and glue!
(And you never know, one might arrive in your mailbox!)

Your Garbage, My Treasure: Planters

Walking down the street to catch the bus, a typical daily activity, I came across two stereo speakers that were clearly not work able and clearly in the trash pile. I saw their potential right away and hoped that they wouild still be laying there upon my return from work.

In my head they automatically looked like garden planters, and I knew it could be done. Thankfully they were there on my walk back, and I eagarly lugged them back to my apartment!

After evaluating the situation, the realization came that some major hacking had to be done. The nails were hidden, so I had to take a hammer to the wood and just pound out the speaker casing in order to have a box that was open on the top. After removing all debris and cutting out the wires, I took some nails and created drainage holes on the bottom of the boxes. Dirt was added along with the plants and viola!

Perfect boxes for my cucumber seedlings!

Have you ever taken anything fron the trash and made a treasure?! Tell me about it!

Its Time for Some Christmas Crafts!

So Friday night I went over to Melissa's house and my other friends Rachel and Melissa H were there and we made all sorts of Christmas crafts!  These are the ones I made, mini gingerbread houses out of Milk Cartons and felt! So easy! I would totally recommend making them with kids or adults, and they will definitely look great on the mantle.

Found directions on the internet, at Family Fun, but honestly its just so easy just use your creativity. Here are the steps:
1. Get Milk Cartons, organge juice, half and half.. whatever
2. Cover them in Brown Felt or foam
3. Cut out cute designs and glue it them on!
 4. Cut off the bottom of the carton so they stand flat and not wobbly.

I made all my little decorations from scratch using ideas from the magazine and also just my own inspiration. You can basically go crazy, use whatever colors, supplies, sparkly things you want. Its your gingerbread house. We used glitter foam, rick-rack, colored felt, and pom poms for ours.

Enjoy=)

Fall Fall

So I totally made these cute pumpkin crafts the other day. I got the idea from an awesome blog, Hostess with the Mostess. They turned out cool and talk about EASY! I tried to be creative by making red ones for apples, but apparently, according to certain people, coughben&isaaccough, they looked like turnips. But alas orange ones are absolutely adorable!

I also roasted some pumpkin seeds from the pumpkins that my roommates carved! Not at all what I remember them tasting like, but a pleasant surprise none the less. Its simple: heat oven to 365, put seeds on an oiled sheet pan, I used Olive Oil, and sprinkle them with salt, then bake until perfectly roasted and browned!

Fall, I love you.

Roasty Toasty Princess!

Decided that I should use the photo mat that I had laying around for ridiculous midnight arty times. Its now crookedly hanging in the dining room. I wish I had spray paint.

No Just Isnt Good Enough
By Alissa Graham
For some reason Ive got it in my head
that no just isnt good enough
and telling me such isnt good.
I dont believe you're being honest
even if you swear truth till your dead.
Surely you think Im a monster
but I promise I'm never wrong when Im like this.
Dont look back and just walk this way,
even if it's just for kicks
I promise I'm never wrong when I'm like this.
You bet Ive heard more no's than not
but to every one ive said yes to that.

                                                                     kitty loves a bow.
and if you can figure out what "Roasty Toasty Princess" is from I will literally give you a dollar. Kailey cant win.

Dear God this is hard.

Holy moly. Recently, I have decided that Ive become a tad bit into facebook and twitter. Now, I like to think that I use both resources responsibly, and not over the top, but its been out of control. Especially at work when there is literally NOTHING else to do except go online and waste time between calls. I can definitley use my time better for goodness sake. So, starting last night, I decided to give up both Facebook and Twitter for a week.

Can I just say that it is hard? Blah. Really hard. Ive been so accumstomed to sharing with the world what Im feeling, what Im up to, interesting tidbits that I find, as well as seeing what everyone else is up to. Its like I crave for the world to know what Im doing like Im someone super special or something. What a crapload. And if I really cared about knowing about certain people, why I should just call them or see how they are doing straight up.

Im definitely trying to use this time to finish some of the books Ive been working on, actually have a quiet time in the morning, as well as productively using my internet time to answer emails, work on contacting my international buddies through JWUs program, and thinking about who I really want to know whats going on with me, and dedicating my time to getting closer to those people.

Ive also decided to be more craftier. Today, I drew a pretty picture using only office supplies.

Paper Clips, Received Stamp, and a cup. Imagine that.

Im laying off the blog for this week, just to focus on other things. So, yep.

So this is one of the books Im reading.. I recommend for you all to check it out. It is what the title says it is. All about when we make people big in our minds and make God small. A big bad thing to do. It's by Ed Welch, great author. Hits me hard.

Hmm. So, I hope I dont go crazy. This is intense and extreme.. but sometimes its necessary. MMk peace out. Call me if you need me <3
